A generic drive can run a water pump. It can hold a frequency, follow a PID loop if you configure one, and stop if something trips a fault. What it can't do out of the box is know what dry running looks like on your system, tell a burst pipe from a normal demand spike, or hand off smoothly between pumps two and three when demand rises at 6 a.m. That's the gap AT24 UB AquaSync is built to close — the same AT24 UB hardware, with pump- and water-network-specific control logic layered on top.
Up to 90% of a pump system's lifetime cost comes from the energy it consumes, not the price of the pump itself — which is why AquaSync's control algorithms focus as much on energy optimization as on protection.

Figure 1. Typical lifetime cost breakdown of a pump system — the reason energy-aware control logic matters more than the drive's purchase price.
Same hardware, same connectivity
AquaSync doesn't ask you to trade away anything from the base AT24 UB platform. It's the same IP20 enclosure, the same 0.75–500 kW power range, the same RS-485 (Modbus RTU) and built-in Wi-Fi communication, and the same EasyDrive Web commissioning experience — connect in about 10 seconds, complete setup with a guided wizard in under 5 minutes.

Three tiers of software, one hardware platform
AquaSync's application logic is organized into three packages that build on each other — you select the tier that matches how much intelligence your site actually needs.

Pressure and level control that adapts, not just holds
The built-in PID controller (included in every tier) maintains consistent pressure using up to four preset configurations, adapting to changing demand rather than holding a single fixed setpoint regardless of conditions. The same PID engine is versatile enough to manage line pressure, fill level, temperature, or load balancing — whichever variable the application needs to hold steady.
Protection that doesn't need extra sensors
The Advanced Pump package's dry run prevention and no-flow monitoring stop the pump automatically when there's no flow to protect against, detecting the condition through the drive's own monitoring rather than requiring a separate flow switch.
Breaks and leakage detection works the same way — it identifies leaks or pressure loss without external sensors, flagging potential issues before they become critical.
Overload protection and soft check-valve control guard against hydraulic shocks during startup and shutdown, and automatic fault recovery switches the drive to a safe operating speed if a sensor fails or a parameter goes abnormal, keeping the system running rather than tripping it offline.
Cascading multiple pumps without a separate PLC
The Smart Multi-Pump package coordinates up to 8 pumps over RS-485 directly from the drive — sensorless flow calculation feeds the cascade controller, which balances load and manages smooth transitions as pumps are brought on- and offline with demand.
For a booster station or pump house, that's cascade logic that would otherwise need to be built and maintained in a separate PLC.
Less mechanical wear, longer service life
Beyond protection and pressure control, several functions specifically target wear:
Sleep/wake mode drops the pump into an energy-saving state during low demand and reactivates it quickly when needed.
Resonance frequency avoidance lets you specify critical frequencies to prevent vibration damage.
Pump system cleaning mode runs the pump briefly forward and reverse at high power to clear contaminants.
Freeze protection activates circulation automatically when temperatures drop below a set threshold.
Running a water supply, booster, or wastewater system that's outgrown basic on/off pump control? Send us the pump count, power, and site conditions — we'll recommend the right AquaSync package.
